Staff in Capita’s North Tyneside Partnership have chosen a North Shields-based charity as their focus for fundraising activities in 2018.
They will raise money for Meadow Well Connected, a community hub for local people to meet new people and gain new skills through a range of supportive services and opportunities.
It was chosen after the charity received the most votes in a poll of employees who work within Capita’s partnership with North Tyneside Council.
Last year, staff raised more than £1,000 for the North of England Children’s Cancer Research Fund through a variety of activities ranging from cake sales to a charity bike ride.
Capita’s North Tyneside Partnership Director Richard Carmichael said:
“Meadow Well Connected is a great choice of charity by our staff.
“It’s a cause that does a great deal of valuable work for the local community – we’re pleased to be able to lend support.”
Meadow Well Connected is a community hub which provides a safe, welcoming space for local people to meet new people and gain new skills through a range of supportive services and opportunities.
They also provide a host of employment and employability services for the job seekers and people who have multiple barriers back into the world of employment. These services include intensive one-to-one coaching, access to alcohol dependency experts, money management workshops and basic IT skills training.
Meadow Well Connected currently have around 17,000 visitors a year accessing their broad range of in-house services and projects.
Chris Armstrong, of Meadow Well Connected, said:
“Meadow Well Connected is delighted to have been chosen by Capita’s North Tyneside employees and are keen to work together to deliver benefits to the local community.”
Capita provides its staff with one paid day per year to undertake volunteering activities in the local community. In 2017, Capita staff on North Tyneside undertook 152 hours of volunteering.
Last month Capita supported the North Tyneside Council Chairman’s Charity Dinner, which raised more than £2,400 for Maggie’s Cancer Centres, North Shields Living at Home Scheme and YMCA North Tyneside.
