Supporting the Northern Powerhouse Conference

As an existing key delivery partner for the Northern Powerhouse, Capita were delighted to sponsor the 2017 Northern Powerhouse Conference in Manchester that provided a platform for organisations and partners across both the public and private sector to discuss the work they are doing to make the Northern Powerhouse as successful as possible.

As part of our sponsorship package we saw Barry Pilkington from Urban Vision (Capita’s joint venture company with Salford City Council and Galliford Try), Peter Openshaw from Salford City Council and Deborah McLaughlin, Capita’s Head of Housing Delivery and Strategy, speaking about how ‘Place Based Partnerships’ can help transform places. Our speakers talked about how partnerships with private sector companies have helped Salford transform itself and attract more investment.

Harry Catherall the Chief Executive of Blackburn with Darwen Council and Deborah McLaughlin from Capita’s also took part in a key panel debate with a number of representatives from financial institutions to talk about ‘ Financing and Delivering the Northern Powerhouse’. Capita debated about what the Northern Powerhouse needs to do to attract further investment.

We had the pleasure of meeting many of our existing  and potential clients at our exhibition stand and at the awards dinner to build relationships and discuss how Capita is uniquely placed to help make the Northern Powerhouse happen on the ground and bring real benefit to local places.

Denise Park, Deputy Chief Executive of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said:

“Taking part in the conference was another example of how our new place based partnership with Capita is supporting the growth agenda in Blackburn and Darwen. We were able to present our views on the financing of the Northern Powerhouse, discuss how we can best ensure the economic success of the region and most importantly showcase our many development opportunities.”

Alex Cousins, Business Development Director for Capita, said:

“It was great to receive such positive feedback from delegates at the conference about our place based approach and the collaborative working with our partners Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and Salford City Council.  We are certainly on the right track to deliver Northern powerhouse ambitions and bring more benefits to the region.
