Blackburn with Darwen and Capita launch new partnership

The new flexible partnership will see Capita providing a blend of services and business cases that will deliver savings, income and growth for the borough. The deal will build the North of England’s first partnership of its kind, creating new opportunities around the development of land, local assets and skills that generate income and transform Blackburn with Darwen.

“We have been careful to create a new style partnership which has no limit to its ambition, it will remain flexible so that we can work together to respond to changes, challenges and opportunities. We are focusing on making sure both the environment, and opportunities for Blackburn and Darwen residents continue to improve, people receive the services that are important to them and we keep open the door to more investment which both of our towns deserve."

Councillor Andy Kay, Executive Member for Resources at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council

“This new approach is key to the next generation of local government partnerships with the private sector, and Blackburn with Darwen is once again leading the way. Now that the contract is signed and we have launched, we’re looking forward to building on our longstanding relationship with Blackburn with Darwen and working with our colleagues at the Council to drive new investment and growth into the area.”

Ian Richardson, Blackburn with Darwen partnership director for Capita

The contract includes a wider £2bn framework, which allows a number of other public organisations to directly procure Capita’s services for a wide range of infrastructure and development projects. This includes organisations within Blackburn with Darwen, across Lancashire, including all 14 other councils within Lancashire, and the wider neighbouring region.
