Capita achieves the Gold North East Better Health at Work Award

Its North Tyneside offices have been awarded a Gold North East Better Health at Work Award, following its silver award in 2016.

The North East Better Health at Work Award, a regional partnership between the TUC, the12 North East local authorities and the NHS, is delivered by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in North Tyneside.

The gold award, which builds upon silver, rewards organisations that looks outside the workplace to promote health and wellbeing within the wider community.

Capita’s activities in 2016 included stress awareness training for managers; free Indian head massages and reflexology sessions for staff; a Step Challenge; volunteering activities in the local community; free staff health checks and the provision of free water bottles and skin protection advice for site-based staff during the summer.

Richard Carmichael, business director, Capita, said:

“We are delighted to receive this award for the initiatives we have implemented. We support the health and wellbeing of our employees and the wider community and are committed to making further improvements in 2017.”

Maureen Turner, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Health Improvement Practitioner Specialist for Workplaces, is supporting Capita through the Better Health at Work Award.

She said:
