Capita is improving Forest Hall shopping area for North Tyneside Council

The plans were developed by Capita’s engineering design team were developed following extensive consultation with residents and businesses at a series of drop-in events earlier in the year. The work will see more parking spaces created, the introduction of traffic calming measures, upgrades to pavements and existing street furniture replaced.

The aim is to create a more inclusive and aesthetically pleasing environment, reallocate space to pedestrians and cyclists, create open spaces, increase business use and turnover and improve the parking allocation.

Norma Redfearn CBE, Elected Mayor of North Tyneside, said:

“I am delighted that our ambitious scheme of improvements to transform the shopping centre in Forest Hall has begun. “The shopping area is a much-appreciated and very busy local amenity and provides a lively and varied shopping environment for residents and visitors. We have listened to feedback from local people and businesses to draw up a number of enhancements which will greatly benefit everyone.”

The work began on Monday (19 November) and is due for completion by spring 2019. The construction team has programmed the work to cause minimal disruption during the busy festive period.
