Capita’s North Tyneside partnership is supporting an award-winning veterans’ charity.

Staff have chosen Forward Assist to be the focus of their fundraising and volunteering activities over the next year.

Forward Assist, based in Dudley, North Tyneside, facilitates ‘Post Traumatic Growth’ for military veterans with combat experience and unresolved trauma issues. The charity also provides support and guidance to former servicemen and women that experience difficulties in adjusting to a new life as a civilian.

Nationally, Capita plc has signed up to the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant scheme in recognition of the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families brings to its business.

Anthony Hewitt, head of highways and construction based in Capita’s North Tyneside partnership, has also joined Forward Assist’s board of trustees. The board of trustees is responsible for the successful governance of the charity and ensuring that it remains solvent.

“Forward Assist plays an important role in the support of military veterans. Capita is delighted to be working with the charity over the coming year and we’re looking forward to making a positive difference.Within my own team there are several armed force veterans and many of them provide career advice to other service leavers, including outlining opportunities that exist within Capita.”

Capita’s North Tyneside partnership is also one of the organisations that has signed up to the North Tyneside Armed Forces Community Covenant. The purpose of covenant is to support the Armed Forces Community working and living in North Tyneside.

The chosen charity for Capita’s North Tyneside Partnership in 2018 was Meadow Well Connected. The company and the charity subsequently entered into a strategic partnership which commits both organisations to a longer-term relationship with each other.
